The Stables at Wavenden weekly Sunday morning 'Jazz Matters' sessions
have started up after the summer break, they start at 11.30 am till 1.30 in the newly built 'Stage 2' area, this a good chance to come and hear and learn about jazz, its history, its players, its venues, and the people who have helped it on its way to what it is today. Most sessions are run by John Dankworth, who seems to be attempting to share every memory of every happening he has had anything to do with through close to 64 years of playing jazz in this country and around the world, including having to deal with Apartheid and not being able to take all his band to South Africa and playing for gangster club owners in America. Once a month John takes a rest from talking, well just a bit, and runs a Live Jazz Matters session where he brings in well know jazz musicians to jam for us, and these sessions can be really hot (cool) man. So do get up one of these Sundays and come along and join us.
